Description of Work: After an older furnace failed due to a crack in the firebox, the entire home comfort system was removed and replaced. New super-high efficiency equipment, with a 98% efficient furnace and 20 SEER air conditioner installed. All ductwork replaced.

Our heater had stopped working, and Gerald came out to diagnose and fix the problem. The gas valve on our heater had failed, and he replaced it with a new one. He also updated the incoming gas line (from flexible to rigid) to update it to code. The diagnosis and fix took just about 3 hours.

Gerald was on time, was very professional, and answered my questions clearly. The total cost included an $84 discount for the diagnostic fee, sales tax and a $25 Angie’s List coupon.

Description of Work:
I would set our furnace to come on, the flame would come on and then 5 seconds later would shut off. Mike L. came to inspect, ran diagnostic tests, cleaned the flame sensor several times, then stated it was the circuit board and we needed to replace it.
Customer Comments:
I called Air-Tro on Friday afternoon, 10-22-10, to set up an appointment to have our furnace checked, since it was turning on, the flame would light, then shut off after 5 seconds. I was given an appointment for Monday, 10-25-10, from 8am-12pm. Mike L. arrived about 7:50am, then started to test our furnace to see what the problem was. Mike was very thorough in diagnosing the problem, removed the flame sensor and cleaned it several times to see if that was the problem, used diagnostic tools and checked everything he could, even calling other techs to see if there was anything else he could do. Mike then said it appeared the circuit board needed to be replaced, and did I want to order one. I said yes, and on Tuesday Pete called to verify that I wanted to replace the circuit board, and told me the cost. Pete said he would order the board and would call me to let me know when it would be installed. Later that same day, Pete called again to say the board would be delivered on Wed. and we could have it installed on Thurday. I said fine, and Mike arrived Thursday morning and installed the new board. Mike tested it 4 times to make sure it was working properly, also checked our thermostat to make sure it was functioning properly. I am very impressed with Mike and Pete, I received superb service in all ways, and highly recommend this company.

I called Air-Tro due to poor cooling by the A/C in 2 rental units. The Tech found and changed a clogged filter, topped off R-22 refrigerant, fixed a broken secondary drain, and recommended some things to consider, including insulation. He even gave me the name of a company to call for an estimate which I did. That company was also very professional.

Ben was very competent, honest and thorough. He did his work in a timely manner and then reported his findings to me regarding both units. He wrote up a detailed report including the name of the unit serviced, the make, model, serial number and voltage/phase…. Description of Work:
Checked the electrical system of the air conditioners. Identified and fixed two problems. This required going inside two outdoor condenser units where one was discovered to have an obstruction that prevented the closing of a solenoid switch, and into the attic, where the problem was a malfunctioning circuit board that was fixed by resetting it.

I left a message over the weekend and Monday morning got a call from Air-Tro. The caller was very friendly and easy to talk to. I asked for someone to check the air conditioners because a part of the house was not getting cooled air and two rooms were not getting much air flow out of the vents. I made an appointment for Wednesday, but later changed it. No problem, they came on Thursday. I was called before the technician arrived to let me know he was on the way. On time and very professional and friendly, he answered all my questions as I followed him around. He was careful and methodical, and seemed to know all the things to look for. The problems were fixed in 60-90 minutes. The cost was reasonable. In sum, it was the best experience I’ve had with a repairman in quite a while.

I am writing this letter to let you know how we have changed our procedure regarding our air conditioning system: Our office building is 48 years old and the air conditioning system is original (except for the compressors). When you have a building this old, it is very important to have an air conditioning company with service people who understand your old system and can make necessary repairs as quickly as possible. Up until the year 2000, we were handling our air conditioning repair needs like most people – on an as needed basis with Air Tro.

Replaced a section of ductwork under the house which was found to be smashed and restricting airflow and heat to the two back rooms of the house.

After we were informed about this problem we called Air-Tro to confirm the problem and give us an estimate of cost to repair it. The estimate was $78.00 and if we chose to hire Air-Tro the estimate would be deducted from the final cost. John arrived and confirmed that the ductwork did need to be repaired. We made an appointment to have Air-Tro do the work and was told it would take between 1.5 and 2 hours at $96.00, an hour plus parts. John arrived promptly at 8:00 am and completed the work by 9:30. When he presented us with the bill I noted that the initial $78.00 fee had not been deducted. John said that the dispatcher who quoted the cost could not guarantee the deduction, but he called the office and the deduction was approved. I should indicate dearly that I was very pleased with both John and his work, but did call the office to inquire about Air-Tro’s deduction policy. I was told that it was a courtesy nearly always offered except when the cost of the work required by a follow-up visit for repair work would not be sufficiently profitable to allow for the deduction. I was completely satisfied by this response.

After completing a Southern California Gas and Electric environmental survey, we were informed that one thing we could do to diminish our utilities footprint would be to have our heating and air conditioning systems tuned-up. After checking Angie’s list and getting a couple of estimates, we invited Air-Tro to come out and check our system.

An Air-Tro representative spent nearly two hours checking out our heating and cooling systems upstairs and down. He used a variety of instruments to check power, air flow and thermostat settings. He located and resolved a problem we had had with our upstairs AC system for more than two years despite the fact that other “experts” had told us that the system was working fine but too small for the number of rooms we were trying to cool. He changed filters and even looked in the attic and basement to check out our ducts. We were pleasantly surprised when he gave us the bill. Many appliance repair persons charge half that just to come and tell you that you need a new part. The estimate they gave me was right on, they were timely in their service and very professional. My advice to anyone with heating or cooling problems would be to hire them even if they do not offer the lowest estimate. Keep up the great service Air-Tro.

Air-Tro not only agreed to come on Saturday, their $78 service call charge was much less than some who wanted $125 just to show up. I made an appointment for 9am. and Dave showed up early at 7am on a Saturday. Luckily I’m an early riser! He turned on the gas, took a look and said it was burning OK, and it had just been dirty and had burned off the dirt. I not only don’t need a new burner, he didn’t even have to take it out and clean it! Honest guy. he showed me how to take the cover off the whole unit to vacuum dust inside and even helped me clean it up. He was there about 45 minutes and the bill was $18 in addition to the cost of the service call. Very nice and very professional. I wouldn’t think of calling anyone else!

The third-party contractor who was responsible for the demolition and disposal of the old furnace and asbestos laden venting did a great jab, and left the site clean. Air-Tro’s two technicians were equally professional and dedicated, and explained what they were doing, politely answered all questions we had, and willingly made some slight aesthetic modifications at our request. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the furnace replacement (goodbye to the 1920′s huge gravity furnace), and all new, first ever central air. Perhaps most importantly, our new tenants are equally pleased. In our experience it is indeed rare when service industries and building contractors do as they tell you they are going to do, in the proper time frame, for the agreed upon cost. In short, Air-Tro delivered, plain and simple. And plain and simple seems to be in short supply these days. Thank you all at Air-Tro. We will be back to see you for our furnace needs, and we will recommend you to our friends. Have a great year!

My A/C was freezing up, I called Air-Tro and they were able to come out in a few days even during the peak summer season. They inspected the system and measured the temps at various locations in the house. They recharged the system with Freon. Almost immediately the air in the house was noticeably cooler, and a stronger air flow. The 2 techs seemed to work good in a team approach and was quickly able to diagnose the problem. I am pleased with the results.
