How can you make sure your service provider knows his stuff?

service provider 2Hint: Ask his peers.

It’s vital that your facility remains in good working order. But dealing with building issues is also a distraction from taking excellent care of your customers, and it’s a great help to have outside professionals you can rely on that are experts in their field. But how do you find those experts? Everyone says they’re the best; who really is?

Here’s a sure-fire way to see which service provider really performs.

Most trades and industries have associations that work on behalf of the industry. The associations provide education and training, lobby regulators, and promote best practices throughout their industry. Many trade groups also provide recognition and awards to members who provide an example of superior performance and dedication to high standards. Trade groups include the best practitioners in their industry. They know what works and what doesn’t. More importantly, they know who does good work and who doesn’t.

The trade group for heating and air conditioning contractors is the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). Last Thursday, ACCA awarded its “Commercial Contractor of the Year” for 2011 to Air-Tro Heating and Air Conditioning. The award was given to Air-Tro because of it’s commitment to quality installation practices when providing air conditioning and heating to its customers.

If you’re interested in making sure that your equipment is maintained by professionals who are experts in their field, do a little research and see how their peers view their work. A little investigation ahead of time can save you from big problems later on.
