Cut Carbon (and Cut Costs, too!)

Cut Carbon (and Cut Costs, too!)

Carbon co2Everyone’s talking about climate change, carbon footprints, “cap and trade”, Kyoto Treaties and Copenhagen summits. Opinions differ, but here’s something we can all agree on; wasting energy does no good, and wasting money doesn’t do you any good at all.

Over half of home energy costs are for heating and air conditioning. But is some of that energy being wasted? According to the California Energy Commission, the heating ducts in our homes leak an average of 30%? That’s 30%! Would you let your gas tank leak 30% of the gas pumped into it? Would you let your bank account leak 30% of the cash deposited in it? Probably not. On the other hand, if your boss offered you a 30% raise, would you take that? You bet!

If your ductwork was installed when your home was built, or was put in by another company in the last 10 or 20 years, you may want to have it tested to see if it’s still holding together good and tight. At Air-Tro, we use the E-Scan electronic diagnostic system from Enalasys. E-Scan puts wireless sensors and a laptop computer to work, finding leaks and measuring their impact on your comfort and your wallet. It requires a skilled technician trained with the equipment, but there’s no better way to nail down a duct problem and get it repaired.

If you’re worried by the coming cold weather, concerned about discomfort in parts of your home, and uncomfortable wasting energy and money, get your ductwork tested. Our normal fee for this in-depth testing and analysis is $420 per home (add $300 for each furnace after the first). But through March 31, we are offering a special price of just $200 (plus $150 for extra furnaces). That fee is just about how much the average home wastes each year from duct leaks, so you’ll probably get back as much in savings as you are now losing in wasted energy.

The sooner you call, the sooner you put an end to your leaks. Call Air-Tro today at (626) 357-3535 to schedule your E-Scan test.
