What is NATE? NATE, which stands for North American Technician Excellence, was founded in 1979 and is a non-profit certification agency for all HVAC services. NATE is supported, respected and recognized by unions, businesses and HVAC contractors throughout the United States.
NATE testing and training. HVAC technicians must undergo a series of difficult examinations that test their knowledge on a variety of areas including installation, trouble-shooting, system design and repair concepts. Only the best and most skilled technicians will qualify to be a NATE certified technician.
Areas of specialization. NATE-certified HVAC technicians are well-trained and specialize in the following:

Stability. NATE-certified technicians have spent a lot of time training and learning the skills for HVAC services. They tend to want to establish a business and build a clientele, and are looking to make a career in the industry. Excellent service. Since many NATE-certified technicians are in it for the long haul, they want to please their customers. They respond to repair calls in a prompt and timely manner. Recertification. In order to stay up to date on all of the latest technologies, NATE= certified technicians take classes and those specialized tests again. They must be recertified every five years.
