The goal of the new Early Retirement program is to reduce peak demand by replacing old inefficient operating HVAC units with new high efficiency units, as well as paying incentives for the replacement of older, but operational, commercial HVAC equipment with new high-efficiency units.

Air Conditioning Costs to Rise in 2015

For the first time in nine years, the Federal government is raising efficiency standards for air conditioning equipment. New EPA rules require residential cooling systems installed in California in 2015 to have a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14 or higher.
